Courses May Include

Introduction to Humanities I
This course offers vocabulary, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts in their cultural contexts in history, religion, literature, music and ideas. It focuses on the achievements of ancient Greece and Rome, the medieval period and the Renaissance while also exploring related issues in non-European cultures. May be taken independently of FAS-202.

Program Outcomes

  • Apply techniques and terminology essential to analyzing (and appreciating) literary form, genre, structure, and style
  • Produce creative works in a variety of genres (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, screenwriting), employing the conventions and techniques of those genres
  • Produce a body of advanced work in the student’s chosen genre, reflecting a culmination of the student’s workshop training and the beginning of professionalization
